Birthday Celebrations In Reception

We’ve got worms!
We’ve had a very exciting time this week when we got some new classmates! In WAH we made our very own worm farm. Felicity is our Eco-warrior and is doing a great job of looking after them. She’s pointing out a worm above.
Geography map symbols
In geography this week, we have been looking at map symbols and their meanings. We played a matching pairs game in small groups. We then used a map of our local area to spot different map symbols and copy them down into our books.
Roman Day
ROMAN DAY!
We had such fun on Roman Day. Our costumes looked amazing. We learned some Latin, we built Roman Villas from Lego and we designed our own Banquet using some strange Roman dishes. Have a look at our photos.
Poplar perform at the Winter Gardens
Poplar Class were invited to perform at the Winter Gardens Dance Festival.
They have spent weeks practising and perfecting a dance routine, choreographed by Miss Anderson.
Last night, they performed to an audience of over one thousand people and did Heyhouses extremely proud!

Hockey in Year 3
Today in PE we practised our hockey skills. We are getting really good at controlling the ball with our sticks and working as a team.
Computer Game Analysts!
Spruce have enjoyed analysing several computer games in their computing lesson today. They considered how difficult the games were, whether there were clear instructions and how they might be improved. As our lessons progress, we will be designed our own games and evaluating each others.
We will remember them
Spruce class have made felt poppies which they have been proudly wearing this week. We have also read and performed John McCrae's famous poem 'In Flanders Fields'. The children copied the poem into their English books and decorated it beautifully.
Birch remembers
Today we explored Remembrance Day. We made our own poppies to remember the soldiers past and present.
